What is ZipLoop™ Technology?
Biomet Sports Medicine has developed ZipLoop™ Technology, an innovative product feature which is a unique weave in which a single strand of braided polyethylene is woven through itself twice in opposite directions. This construct allows Biomet Sports Medicine .png)
to produce innovative products that can vary in length and compression/tension addressing the individual needs of each patient. Products utilizing ZipLoop™ Technology are resistant to slippage without tying knots.1
This technology has been incorporated into an innovative device for repairing meniscal tears. The MaxFire™ MarXmen™ Meniscal Repair System is an
all-inside, all-suture meniscal repair system. Anchors are preloaded on needle inserters, connected to one another with Biomet Sports Medicine‘s ZipLoop™ Technology. Fixation can be achieved by simply pulling one strand of suture.
The ToggleLoc™ Fixation Device was the first device designed to incorporate ZipLoop™ Technology. This device can be used in a variety of techniques including ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, posterior lateral corner reconstruction, patellar tendon repair, ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (Tommy John),
ankle syndesmosis repair (using the ZipTight™ Fixation System), and distal biceps tendon reattachment.
Patients can essentially receive a “custom” fit with ZipLoop™ Technology. One device can accommodate a wide range of patients because the length, compression and or tension of the device can be adjusted to the individual requirements (bone size/tissue thickness) of each patient. Hospitals and surgery centers need to stock only one device – eliminating inventory issues with multiple sizes of implants.
